Ceramics-based indexable faceted cutting inserts (IFCI)
These indexable faceted cutting inserts (IFCIs) are made of the following ceramics:
- Pure alumina-base ceramic
- Doped alumina-based ceramic
- Nitride ceramic.
Main advantages as compared to state-of-the-art hard metals:
- Resistance to thermo-mechanical shocks
- High wear-resistance
- High thermal stabilit.
VCS35 IFCIs (alumina-based ceramics) are recommended for high-speed continuous finishing operations in coolant-free turning of cast iron grades (К01-К05).
VCS40, VCS45 IFCIs (doped alumina-based ceramic) are recommended for:
- High-speed machining of cast iron grades under favorable parameters (К01-К05);
- Prolonged high-speed machining of hardened steel grades (Н05-Н10);
- Finishing and semi-finishing of refractory alloys (S01-S10).
VCS05, VCS15 IFCIs (nitride ceramics and doped nitride ceramics) are used for high-speed continuous and discontinuous turning of cast iron grades (K01-K20).
VCS20 IFCIs (SiALON ceramic) are made of ceramic grade recommended for roughing and semi-finishing of the refractory alloys (S05-S20).
